Post 2: Hüsker Dü. Ah Hüsker Dü, another one of my favorite bands of all time. These guys knew how to…I was gonna write about how awesome they were and how much they rock, but you know what, just listen for yourself. It’s tough writing reviews about these bands without just praising them the whole time because every band I post is pretty much one of my favorite bands, Hüsker Dü being one of the top bands, but there are a lot up there. Much like Adam said before, I don’t have much to say and I wish I did but it’s better to just let the music speak for itself, espically when it’s all live stuff. If you’re downloading this you probably have heard Hüsker Dü before and love them. If you’re not sure, download these 2 shows first so the links don’t expire, then get the albums and listen to them, realize that they blow everyone else out of the water and then listen to these live sets. Espically awesome is the cover of Love is All Around (you know the Mary Tyler Moore theme):

Here it is. 77 Syd Barrett songs. I compiled all of the Syd Barrett I am aware of into one file. This isn’t every recording of every song, but all the basics are covered.
I know of one song, “Rooftop in a Thunderstorm Row Missing the Point” which is missing, and I have never heard it. If you have it, please send it to me. Other than that, I think that every Syd Barrett song is in this file.
What’s in it: Syd’s two solo albums, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, the compilation Opel, the Peel Sessions, Piper at the Gates of Dawn obviously, and a mix of singles and rarities.
I hope you enjoy. I live on this.
Here is a site with lyrics to all of these songs: Syd Barrett Lyrics

Play a concert in Asbury Park, that is.
Black Sabbath, however, did.
Here it is, from 1975, Black Sabbath in their absolute finestness.
And I know this bootleg has been around the block a few times, but I like it so much I want everyone to have it.
Live at Asbury Park, New Jersey 1975

Here is another bootleg of Sabbath from 72 at Winterland.

By the way, Beethoven has nothing on Sabbath.
Still Hungry – Enjoy Sessions & Live 1985
I love the Decendents, they’re one of my favorite bands ever, right behind Pavement. I can say so much about them, but it would all be biased and praise and no one wants to read fan boy shit all day on blogs, so here’s the disc. The name of the bootleg explains it all. My old boss gave me this along with a bunch of live shows by the the Replacements. Expect those soon.
Track List:
1) Shattered Milo

I’m pretty sure that the title of this post says it all. Lightning Bolt, for those of you who don’t know them, are a two piece group from RI, they never play on stage only on the floor, and they’re louder, faster, harder and more amazing than anything you’ve heard before. Lightning Bolt are Brian Gibson on bass and Brian Chippendale on drums. How to describe them? You know those old Maxell commercials (I think they were commercials and not just a picture. However, if it was just a picture imagine it as a commercial) of the guy sitting in his chair, he turns on the stereo and the music starts to blow everything away? That’s what it feels like to listen to Lightning Bolt with the volume all the way down. Imagine what it’s like loud. Here are two amazing live shows, one with Sonic Youth (how cool). I found these on the net maybe 2 or 3 months ago, and once again I have no idea where from. But here they are, in all their glory, in one file because they’re pretty small:
Recommended Track: 30000 Monkies
Peel Sessions:
1 – Intro
2 – 2 Morro Morro Land (labeled track 01)
3 – On Fire
4 – Dracula Mountain
5 – Bizarro Zarro Land (labeled track 05)
6 – 30000 Monkies (just to reiterate, this is an amazing performance of the song)
7 – Track 07 (I’m not sure of the title either)
Sonic Youth Live With Lightning Bolt:
1 – Disconnection Notice
2 – White Cross/13 Monsters
3 – Ride the Sky

Awesome Color- Awesome Color (2006)
This band is from Brooklyn and they are probably the best wannabe Stooges band I’ve ever listened to. And that was not meant to be insulting, that’s a compliment. They’ve even got the horns down on the last track “Animal.”
Last week I got the new Stooges album and, after being depressed for most of the weekend, I found some comfort in this album. Hope you like it.
We’ve got a couple of their shows listed for the coming month or so.
